Vine Arts Center

An Artist run gallery

September 19 –November 1, 2008

The multi media art exhibition “Hiawatha Tales” is full of surprises. It features recent art works by Lawrence Nelson. It juxtaposes industrial and natural spaces in the Twin Cities through the use of photo collage, paintings and video. Larry’s landscapes explore the collision of people and nature by connecting and contrasting slices of daily life. Together the work illustrates a broader picture of an ever-changing community.

An opening reception, a multi level “Art and Recycling” workshop, and a Video screening will be held in conjunction with the exhibit. Jarrod Diamond’s book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed will be the topic of a Vine Arts book club that will be hosted by Larry. The book club plans to meet three times during the run of the show. The first meeting will discus themes in the book in relation to the exhibit.
